New mother receives compensation for needle blunder
We have recently helped a mother following negligent medical treatment at a UK hospital.
Following the birth of her daughter, our client needed stitches. A medical negligence claim
was brought against a hospital Trust after it was discovered that the needle used for the stitches had been left inside the mother.
The Trust would not admit liability for the incident but were prepared to pay compensation to our client.Neil Fearn, Head of Medical Negligence
at Leeds based Simpson Millar LLP said: "We invited an early admission/offer from the Trust on the basis that the facts spoke for themselves, that it was more likely than not that the needle discovered had been left following the stitching and we invited early settlement by approaching the Trust with an offer of settlement, which the trust accepted."
Our client received £3,000 in compensation
for her ordeal, which lasted a few days.Useful links
