Mis-sold Energy savings plans
Gas and electric companies have been under the microscope now for some time in relation to their selling practices and many consumers have been duped
thinking that they are going to be making huge savings on their utility bills. But what do you do if you have been mis-sold and treated unfairly?
Whatever your dispute is regarding your energy savings plan, you should attempt to deal with the matter directly through the company's internal complaints procedure
in the first instance. If the matter is not resolved after 8 weeks, you are able to refer the matter to The Ombudsman
(if the provider is a member of the Ombudsman Service) who will investigate both sides of the disagreement and provide their decision. This is a free service for consumers and The Ombudsman can be contacted on:
Telephone: 0330 440 1624
Textphone: 0330 440 1600
In writing to:
Ombudsman Services: Energy
PO BOX 966
If you have been sold a Green Deal Plan
(which enables the implementation of energy efficiency improvements) and want to make a complaint about a Green Deal provider you can also do this through the Ombudsman if a direct complaint is not resolved.
You can also contact Advice Guide at the Citizens Advice Bureau
who are able to offer free advice and help find a solution to the matter. See: free advice and help to find a solution
