Illness at Three Corners Ocean View in El Gouna, Egypt

Dated:

We have been instructed to help a holidaymaker from Southampton claim compensation from Thomas Cook for a sickness bug suffered at the Three Corners Ocean View hotel in Egypt.

The hotel is in the popular resort of El Gouna, Egypt and marketed by Thomas Cook as being "Stylishly modern" with one of its key features being the "amazing" poolside terrace. The majority of holidaymakers stay at the hotel on an all-inclusive basis making much use of the buffet restaurant.

Hospital Treatment Needed

Our client stayed at the hotel in June of this year and halfway through the holiday was struck down with sickness and diarrhoea. The illness was so serious our client required treatment at El Gouna hospital where various tests were undertaken. When our client arrived back in the UK he was advised that the illness was most likely to have been bacterial in origin.

Our client's wife and travelling companions were also ill with what may have been the same sickness bug.

The instruction to Simpson Millar LLP to help pursue a claim against tour operator giant, Thomas Cook, comes amid other reports of illness referred to on the hotel review site TripAdvisor.

In taking the claim on Paul Stevens, Group Illness Claims Manager at Simpson Millar, advised:

"My client experienced a serious bout of gastric illness back in June of this year and is still suffering symptoms. Because they booked a package holiday, a claim can be brought against Thomas Cook if it can be shown that the hotel is at fault. The reports provided to me are of food that was seemingly too cold and the wife of my client witnessing hotel staff pouring the remnants of half drunken bottles of water into the swimming pools."

No Win No Fee

"Anyone else who experienced traveller's diarrhoea or serious upset stomachs during holidays to Egypt should contact Simpson Millar LLP if they are thinking about pursuing a claim."

"The usual way in which one can determine what has caused an illness is by submitting a stool sample on the return to the UK. Common bugs include salmonella, cryptosporidium and E.coli. If you have not tested positive for a bug, there are other means of determining the most likely cause of the illness which is where we come in as holiday claims experts.

Our client has instructed us to represent him under a no win no fee funding arrangement. If you have suffered illness of a similar nature during a holiday to Egypt within the last 3 years, we can be contacted today for advice.
