Hotel Hotetur Palma Real – Salmonella in Cuban Hotel Reported

Simpson Millar Solicitors are receiving enquiries from holiday makers returning from the Hotetur Palma Real in Cuba who are furious at having contracted Salmonella at this 4 star all-inclusive hotel in Varadero.

Initial reports suggest that a large number of UK travellers have fallen fowl of the debilitating sickness bug – Salmonella. Further reports are expected once the results of medical samples are available.

The illness symptoms experienced by holiday makers at the Hotetur Palma Real include profuse and irrepressible diarrhoea - brutal stomach cramps – fever and nausea.

Simon Lomax, Holiday Illness Compensation Claims Manager says:

"Holiday makers are contacting us reporting poor standards of hygiene including filthy cups and saucers – dirty glasses – and fly infested food."

"It appears that food hygiene standards at this hotel are not as they should have been causing a spate of illness amongst its guests. Salmonella is often caused by food poisoning and is often transmitted by food or drinking water which has been contaminated by faeces, either directly or by flies or other insects."

"Tour operator’s representatives should be advising ill holiday makers to seek urgent medical advice from a qualified medical practitioner."

"Salmonella food poisoning is not caused by an over indulgence – change in temperature or an airborne virus and any advice given to the contrary would be extremely foolish. If left untreated this infection can cause serious long term health problems to its victims!"

"We are seeking to recover substantial compensation for those travellers who suffer illness due to unsanitary hygiene conditions and/or food poisoning at the Hotel Hotetur Palma Real in Cuba – reputable British tour company’s should not be subjecting holiday makers to poor hygiene and sanitation whilst on regulated package holidays abroad."

The Hotel Hotetur Palma Real is a large and popular all-inclusive holiday advertised by Thomas Cook in its holiday brochures. The other hotels featured by Thomas Cook in its Cuban brochure include the Bristas Guardalavca – Sol Palmeras – Sol Cayo Coco and Iberostar Daiquiri.
