Holiday Illness Bug Hits Reef Oasis Beach Resort
Holiday illness claims specialists, Simpson Millar Solicitors, are being contacted by ill holiday makers
returning from the luxury Egyptian hotel the Reef Oasis Beach
who have suffered illness including profuse diarrhoea – violent stomach cramps – fever and nausea.
Initial reports on TripAdvisor
suggest that a large number of British holiday-makers travelling with the UK’s second largest tour operator, Thomas Cook, have been subjected to poor health and safety standards
at the Reef Oasis Beach Resort
, Simpson Millar’s Holiday Illness Claims Manager says:
"Our Holiday Compensation Claims
team were shocked to learn of the hygiene issues being discussed on the popular consumer forum TripAdvisor – holiday makers have suffered from dysentery
in the past at the Reef Oasis Beach
and the trend appears to be continuing unabated."
"Recent reports expose poor hygiene practices and substandard food
revealing numerous possible causes of holiday sickness
"Holiday makers staying at the Hotel Reef Oasis Beach in July and August 2010 claim that over 50% of the hotel’s guests were ill
. Reviews suggest the cause of the illness outbreak could be linked to undercooked food
, particularly chicken."
"Reports also suggest that the swimming pools at the Reef Oasis Beach were not being chlorinated correctly. Shigella sonnei, a bacterial form of dysentery
, is often spread from person to person and through the faecal contamination of water
"One holiday maker returning from the Reef Oasis Resort even suggested that the tour operator was aware of these issues and that they should avoid eating in the main restaurant – if true this is simply unacceptable!"
Simon continues to say:
"I would be interested to know why a British tour operators auditing processes did not reveal such serious hygiene concerns?"
"Tour operators are under a duty to exercise reasonable skill and care in the selection of hotels. I am therefore surprised that the Hotel Reef Oasis Beach has not been placed on Stop Sale until hygiene standards are improved given the extent of the health and safety issues revealed on TripAdvisor!"
"I am now seeking to recover substantial compensation for those holiday makers who have suffered food poisoning
or any other debilitating illness bug at the Hotel Reef Oasis Beach
in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt. Holiday makers travelling on regulated package holidays
should not be subjected to poor hygiene and unsanitary conditions abroad." Useful links
