GMB Victory for Dismissed Members
4 GMB members have secured an Employment Tribunal victory
resulting in a total award of £105,204.55 following their dismissal from Mootas Enterprises Limited. The Company must now pay just over £25,000 to each Claimant.
The employees were originally employed by Teddy Francis Limited. Proceedings for unfair dismissal, redundancy payments, wages
and holiday pay
were lodged in the Southampton Employment Tribunal when the employees were dismissed by former director, Stephen Chambers, without notice or warning. Shortly after proceedings were issued, the Company changed its name to Mootas Enterprises Limited.
Charles Harrity of the GMB, who pursued the case on behalf of the workers, said "The decision by the Southampton Employment Tribunal is a very positive one for the people involved in this claim. In pursuing this case the GMB Trade Union has shown that it is determined to uphold the rights of working men and women by holding rogue employers to account whenever they attempt to deny their employees their statutory rights. I would also like to thank Simpson Millar solicitors for their diligence and determination in supporting our members in this claim."
