Family courts to fast track collaborative agreements
The role and benefits of collaborative family law is being recognized by the Courts.
A senior family judge Mr Justice Coleridge has said that couples who successfully negotiate collaborative agreements should be able to have these dealt with more quickly than conventional cases.
Solicitors will no longer need to lodge consent orders with the court, and wait for them to be approved and sent back. Instead, for approval in collaborative cases could be dealt with through the urgent, "without notice" applications list.
Collaborative law gives couples control over the timetable of their separation, rather than leaving it to the courts. So far the Courts have been slow to support this new approach but this latest indication is encouraging news for Collaborative family lawyers and their clients.
