Club Playa Blanca - Lanzarote - UK Holiday Makers Report Illness

Simpson Millar Solicitors LLP have been contacted by holiday makers who have recently returned from holidays the Club Playa Blanca Apartments in Playa Blanca, Lanzarote, complaining of illness and possible food poisoning.

Nick Harris, Head of Travel Law at Simpson Millar said:

"I have been speaking with a number of people who have contacted me following recent holidays at the Club Playa Blanca. The reports I am receiving indicate that a significant number of the hotel’s guests were affected by sickness around the same time during January. "

"In some instances there have been positive cases of salmonella."

"This has to be a major concern to both the hotel management and tour operators like Thomas Cook who fill the hotel and I expect they will already be doing all they possibly can to get to the bottom of the problem."

"It is too early too speculate upon the cause of the illness outbreak but food poisoning is not being ruled out as a likely cause."

"I am particularly keen to speak with anyone who may have been affected during January 2010 by illness during their stay at the Club Playa Blanca."

"If it transpires that holiday makers were becoming ill due to food poisoning such as salmonella because of failings in food hygiene standards I will be seeking substantial compensation for my clients."

"Food poisoning such as salmonella or can be avoided if food, especially eggs and chicken, is cooked thoroughly."

The Club Playa Blanca Apartments are located in resort of Playa Blanca – Lanzarote, Canaries. The hotel boasts 164 apartments.
