£2,000 for footpath pavement trip

Dated:

Our client was out walking when he tripped and fell on a footpath. He sought to seek compensation for his injuries and instructed Simpson Millar LLP to assist in doing so.

Our client was walking down a footpath in Walsall in the West Midlands. He tripped over a defect on the footpath causing him to fall and sustain injury to his ankle.

The local authority initially disputed liability on the basis they contended that they were not responsible for the land on which the accident occurred and they sought to blame a local church. The claim was then directed to the church who also disputed that they owned the land. We were then ultimately able to show that the local authority did in fact own the land and they eventually admitted liability.

The local authority made an offer of £2,000 which was accepted by our client for the personal injury claim.
