£100m package to build more houses
The Government has unveiled a £100 million package to carry on building the family and first-timer buyer homes that are desperately needed.
The 2008-09 Housing and Planning Delivery Grant will provide an additional direct funding top-up for any Council to ensure they can build new homes for families when they need them.
Only recently campaigners took to their tents during the torrential downpours last weekend in the West Midlands to campaign for more housing.
Minister Margaret Beckett said "The allocation of £101m will go a long way to ensuring Councils and Builders are ready to take advantage when the upturn in the economy comes".
