More Information on Restructure and Redundancy

Dealing with reorganisation and redundancies can be stressful for employers. If employers don’t go through the redundancy process in a compliant way, they run the risk of claims being issued against them, which can result in time-consuming and costly litigation.

To avoid this risk, employers may decide to offer its employees a Settlement Agreement. This guards against the risk of any claims being issued. It may also help to ensure that employees leave on good terms and remain productive throughout the redundancy process. We have considerable experience in advising employers on bulk Settlement Agreements, within the context of a business reorganisation.

Reorganisation or redundancy exercises can take a number of forms. This could consist of a straightforward individual redundancy, or a more wide-scale reorganisation that could impact on several employees.

During the redundancy selection process, employers should be careful not to directly or indirectly discriminate against employees on the grounds of age, gender or disability. In some circumstances, it may be more appropriate to offer your employees settlement terms before going through a formal redundancy process.

Our Employment Law Solicitors regularly provide support and assistance to employers who are going through a reorganisation process, and we’re experienced in dealing with all forms of redundancies. We can provide a hands-on approach by giving you step by step written guidance on any procedural measures that you may need to take.

We can provide redundancy letter templates, draft bespoke documentation and produce a clear strategy on how to handle redundancy issues in a commercial way that meets your business’s needs.
