Is there a time limit?
A general 3 year limitation period applies to anyone wishing to
bring a claim for serious injury. The 3 year period runs from the date you suffered
your accident or in certain circumstances from 3 years when you first became aware
of your injuries.
If you are a close relative considering bringing a claim
for catastrophic injury compensation on behalf of a loved one who
has sadly passed away then a time limit of 3 years from the date your relative
passed away usually applies. If you are seeking compensation on behalf
of a child a claim must be made within 3 years of the date the child reaches the
age of 18.
