Partner, Peter Watson, is responsible for the day-to-day running of
the firm and is supported by the Management Committee

Personal Injury and Industrial Disease Claims with particular interest in VWF and asbestos claims.
Career:
Kate Virica joined Simpson Millar in April 2012 as Head of our Gateshead Office. Kate went to Southampton University were she studied a politics degree. She is a solicitor with over 18 years’ experience of working with trade union law firms specialising in Claimant personal injury work and industrial disease litigation. Kate has always worked with trade union firms, firstly with Warner Goodman & Streat in Southampton, then Hough Halton & Soal in Carlisle and for the past 13 years with Browell Smith & Co Solicitors where she was a partner and headed up and successfully managed their Sunderland branch office. Kate has dealt with a wide range of PI work including multi track accident and disease claims. Kate has had a number of successful limitation cases including the Court of Appeal decision McKay vs Hamlani (1) DirectLine Insurance (2) PLC 2008 and Sweet vs The Owners of Blyth Lifeboat QBD 2002.
Kate is a member of APIL and has senior litigator status. She is also chair of an independent panel for the North East Strategic Health Authority investigating into standards of mental health care provided.
Interests:
Kate enjoys running, sailing, reading and travelling and also plays the saxophone.
