Medical negligence claims
As of August 2016, Geoff has been made a Partner at Simpson Millar LLP in the Medical Negligence team and has over 10 years' experience dealing with a wide variety of clinical and medical negligence claims for clients.
Before joining Colemans-ctts in May 2007 he worked with Russell-Cooke who had merged with his previous firm, Evill & Coleman in March 2005. He qualified with McMillan Williams in September 2002 and has specialised in medical negligence and personal injury claims since then.
Prior to training as a solicitor, Geoff worked at The Royal Courts of Justice where he issued the first ever claim form.
The updated 'Personal Injury Law, Precedents & Procedure', as recently compiled by the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (APIL), (published by Jordans) contains a new chapter on the Court of Protection. Geoff had substantial input and is credited in the work which was written primarily by leading catastrophic injuries and clinical negligence lawyer Terry Lee.
Geoff is the author of 'A Practical Approach to Clinical Negligence Post-Jackson' (Nov 2016, published by PIBULJ) and has a regular column in the Solicitors' Journal.
Quoted in Chambers and Partners 2017 as follows: Geoffrey Simpson-Scott is a key contact who advises clients on a range of clinical negligence cases, including misdiagnosis cases and negligent surgery matters. Often represents families at inquest.
