Graduate recruitment
Choosing the right firm defines the rest of your legal career
and as a national law firm we feel confident that we can guide
and encourage you throughout this process. We take around 10 trainees
per year throughout our 7 offices and we aim to
ensure that you receive exposure to as many different types
of legal work as possible.
I found that from day one of my training contract I was given a high level of responsibility. The Fee Earners encourage me to work autonomously showing a confidence in my ability and offer varied work. This is well balanced by their friendly and supportive approach. The office operates an open door policy and all levels of Fee Earners are always happy to help and provide guidance.

I have been a trainee at Simpson Millar for 7 months now. I have found Simpson Millar a warm and friendly firm with a sociable atmosphere. My time has been both interesting and challenging. I started in the Medical Negligence team where I helped with high value and complicated cases. I am now working in my non-contentious seat in the Private Client team. I am also enjoying this seat where I am learning to run a caseload.

These seats offer you the benefit of contentious and non-contentious business areas

I am a trainee based in the Birmingham office of Simpson Millar. Since joining the firm, I have really enjoyed all aspects of my training. Since day one, I have had the opportunity to work on a varied and interesting caseload and have welcomed the high level of responsibility that has been handed to me. I have gained experience in all areas of Personal Injury litigation and have assisted in a number of high-value Industrial Disease cases, including Asbestos-related claims. I have also had the opportunity to work in the Criminal Injuries department and am due to start my seat in the Private Client team in the coming weeks. Throughout my training, I have received support and guidance when needed with regular appraisals with my training supervisor and helpful feedback on how to progress further in my career. Everyone in the Simpson Millar team is very friendly and supportive and an open door approach is adopted at all times.
