We pride ourselves on the standard of training given to our Paralegals and Legal Advisors. Over the past couple of years, several of our Paralegals and Legal Advisors have been awarded training contracts and due to the success of these placements, the decision was made to offer training contracts initially to internal applicants and where possible those applicants should have 12 months experience. If we are unsuccessful with an internal placement then the business will recognise the need to advertise and recruit externally. Unfortunately, that said, the number of talented individuals currently employed by us as paralegals or legal advisors far outweigh the number of training contracts we are able to offer so an offer of employment as a paralegal or Legal Advisor will not automatically guarantee you a training contract but you can rest assured that you will receive quality hands-on legal experience throughout your employment.

Upon commencing my Training Contract in October 2008 I recall being very excited about being trusted to run my own files. One of the great aspects of the Training Contract is that as a trainee at Simpson Millar LLP, you are immediately given a high degree of responsibility. I was soon appearing in Court, making applications before District Judge’s and attending Trials with Counsel. Nerve-wracking, but then that is why I went to Law School. The friendly atmosphere in the various offices meant that I was never afraid to go and ask questions of my Supervisor and fellow Fee earners, who were always more than happy to help and give advice. Two years later and I am now a newly qualified solicitor working in the Holiday and Travel Law Department.
