Simpson Millar appoints a real Gent to lead in Gateshead

National law firm Simpson Millar LLP has welcomed a clinical negligence specialist to lead its team in Gateshead. He joins the firm 12 months after a merger that saw the firm open its first office in the North East.
Ben Gent, who joins as a partner spent the last two years as head of Personal Injury at Sheffield firm Ashton Morton Slack and specialises in negligence and birth injury claims.
With more than a decade of experience, he has built a reputation for his efforts in supporting families and ensuring fair compensation for those who have suffered at the hands of negligent medical staff.
As for his decision to join Simpson Millar, Ben commented: “I have been aware of the firm for years and have followed its recent expansion closely. When the firm approached me to take up the baton and lead the Clinical Negligence team in Gateshead, I didn’t need long to consider the offer. Ben qualified as a solicitor in '97 and has practiced law in both the UK and Australia.
Simpson Millar launched its Gateshead office through the acquisition of law firm Peter Maughan & Co and debt recovery firm AP Law Associates in December 2008 and February 2009 respectively.
It is the only firm in Gateshead with a Community Legal Funding (previously Legal Aid) franchise for Clinical Negligence claims.
