Mesothelioma cancer trials
-
Mesothelioma patients have signed up to a clinical trial in America testing the effectiveness of an antibody called bavituximab as a therapy option for patients with advanced cancers that do not respond to treatment.
The study has been organised by a pharmaceutical company called Peregrine Pharmaceuticals, Inc. and aims to determine the safety and tolerability of bavituximab in patients with advanced cancer and assess how the body handles and responds to the antibody. The clinical trial will also examine the maximum tolerable dosage amount of bavituximab and the effective dosage level.
As well as Mesothelioma patients, other cancer patients such as those diagnosed with liver, prostate, breast, colorectal, pancreatic, head and neck cancers have also signed up to the trial.
