The law firm, which has 7 other offices across the country, celebrated its expansion into the North East through the acquisition of law firm Peter Maughan & Co and debt recovery firm AP Law Associates in December and February respectively.

Over 30 people attended the event and all were welcomed to the new Walker Terrace office by Simpson Millar’s Managing Partner, Peter Watson; Partner and former Managing Partner of Peter Maughan & Co, Peter Maughan; and Allison Chatto who established AP law Associates and is now the firm’s Head of Debt Recovery, together with their teams.

Once the last person had left, Allison said: "There is a real buzz around the office and everyone is excited about what we can achieve. We have got a great team of people and together there is no limit to what we can achieve so hopefully our launch reflected that message".

Peter Maughan was delighted with the success of the event: "It was terrific to see such a great turnout – some old favourites and many new faces. There has always been a strong spirit and sense of community in Gateshead and it’s good to see that people remain positive despite difficult economic challenges".

Mr Mitchinson added: "It is always great when businesses decide to set up shop here in Gateshead, especially well established firms such as Simpson Millar which obviously sees potential in the region".

Long-standing client of Simpson Millar, the Communications Workers Union were represented by John Woodhouse, Newcastle Branch Secretary and Paul Clays, North East Regional Secretary who were pleased to now have access to their lawyers locally. Businesses and individuals can now pop around the corner for a wide range of legal services including employment issues, clinical negligence and debt recovery advice.
