As many of you may know each year we, at Simpson Millar LLP take part in an Aid convoy for children and vulnerable adults in Eastern European Countries, but this year as well as already having taken part in the convoy in September we are looking to produce some unexpected added sparkle to these children's lives.
Spreading goodwill at Christmas has taken on a whole new meaning for Steve Fishwick, Policy Advisor in the Postal Outdoor Department at CWUHQ and Linda Stewart, Head of Employment at Simpson Millar LLP Solicitors who are based on the ground floor at the Wimbledon CWU HQ.
The pair of CWU Humanitarian Aid Convoy Veterans have decided to use their own time over the Christmas and New Year period, to take some vital clothing and toys to the children of Lithuania. It all came about when a lovely lady from Cheshunt phoned in to say that she had an amount of knitted goods for children and was looking to donate them to a good cause, provided that they could be delivered in time for this winter!
A split second decision was taken and the effort to get the aid over to the kids was up and running. The request for more knitted items is out there on facebook, email and other outlets but more is needed. "With clothes coming in from as far afield as Bristol, York and Lancaster thus far, we are slowly filling the van but every single item helps" said Linda, "we really do cherish every single donation – no matter how small".
If you can help, either by knitting clothes for children aged 3-16 or buying an item of kiddies clothing, you can send them to Steve or Linda at the following address:

You can also donate to our justgiving page and help us to buy clothes by visiting www.justgiving.com/fishandthelawyer and pledging a few quid to help keep these children warm in winter temperatures that reach as low as minus 25 – 40 at times.
Every penny really does count in this situation – please help us to help those not quite as fortunate as ourselves this Christmas.
