Simpson Millar forges stronger links with Spinal Cord Association for parenting programme

Simpson Millar LLP is delighted to announce its new Gold Partnership and participation in a new parenting initiative by the Spinal Injuries Association (SIA).
The programme is a series of masterclasses entitled "Parenting After Spinal Cord Injury". To be hosted at specialist hospitals nationwide from April, its purpose is to provide information and insight to anyone who is considering becoming a parent following a spinal cord injury. The classes will be held by spinal cord injury trainers who have all become parents after their injury.
The SIA is the UK's leading national charity for people with spinal cord injury. Among the organisation's goals are to provide lifelong support from time of injury for sufferers of paralysis, to help the families of those newly-injured, to increase understanding of spinal cord injury and to campaign for better medical and social care for its sufferers.
To fund its core services and projects, the SIA relies almost entirely on the support of companies, individuals and grants. Its elected Trustees all suffer from spinal cord injury and are voted for by a membership who are also spinal cord injured.
Among Simpson Millar's roles as one of the SIA's Gold Corporate Partners will be to help sponsor the parenting initiative's 10 events, beginning with a masterclass at NSIC Stoke Mandeville on 21 April 2012.
The firm's contribution to each event will take the form of a 20-minute presentation. Two specialists in the legal implications of spinal cord injury – the profession's sole contributors to the SIA programme – will discuss the options available for parents of children with spinal cord injuries.
Simpson Millar will also help promote the SIA by displaying the Gold Partner logo on its own website and in other activities.
