£2,205 in Compensation for Woman Injured on Public Transport

Dated:

Alexandra Dunn, from our Manchester office, recently helped one of our clients receive £2,205 in compensation following injuries in an accident on public transport.

Physical and psychological support is a large part of the compensation needed after a traumatic accident.

Our client, who was 68 at the time of the accident, was a passenger on a bus going between Gateshead and Newcastle Upon Tyne.

She was sitting at the back of the bus next to the window when the driver slammed on the emergency brakes, sending our client flying over the seat in front of her. She managed to save herself from being thrown even further by grabbing hold of one of the bars that runs along the top of the seat.

Physical and Psychological Harm

Our client suffered pain immediately after the accident, and suffered an injury to her neck, shoulder, hip, knee and chest wall.

Not only was our client physically injured, she has also been left with psychological harm. She suffered from the immediate shock of the accident, and afterwards experienced flashbacks and panic attacks.

Personal Injury on Public Transport

Alexandra comments on the lack of awareness of being able to claim for injuries on public transport;

"Injuries often happen when bus drivers brake suddenly or if they're involved in a collision, and many buses don't have the provision of seat belts to secure passengers."

"Lots of people don't actually realise that you can make a claim if you've been injured in a road traffic accident whilst using public transport. People can claim for injuries on planes, trains, or even taxis. We hope that cases like this will make people understand that you can be entitled to compensation if you've been hurt in this way."

How we Helped

Even though we at first didn't have the details of the bus company, or their registration number, Alexandra was still able to help secure our client £2,205 in compensation for her injuries by tracking them down with the help of the MIB.

Our client's physical and emotional harm following the accident shows how important it is to get legal advice if you have been injured as a passenger in a road traffic accident. Making the decision to get in touch with a solicitor could help you find out whether you could be compensated for your injuries.
